Lesson timetable

Learning outcomes

The course will touch upon the structures of the European Union, the basic freedoms (of circulation of goods, services, capitals and persons) as core matter of the single market as well as the legal instruments and processes of EC law. The main focal point of the first part of the course lies in the regulations of the internal market which are directly relevant in the field of information and the internet; in this field, a special attention will be given to the regulation of electronic commerce. The second focal point outlines the legal framework of EC’ s action for the liberalization of telecommunications.

Syllabus

The course is taught through the direct examination of relevant legal instruments and class discussions on legal issues arising in relation thereto. Most classes will benefit by the participation of foreign experts. The working language is English.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students’ preparation will be tested through an oral examination.
Students who attended the course can prepare on the basis of their notes and the distributed materials. Their oral test will be in English.
Students who did not attend the course should prepare on the basis of the following textbook: A. TIZZANO (ed.), Il diritto privato dell’Unione europea, II ed., Vol. I, Torino, Giappichelli editore, 2006, Chapters I-III; VII; XI; XVI, XIX and XX. They will take their exam in Italian.
