Curriculum

Veronica De Crescenzo is Assistant Professor in Financial intermediation at the University of Verona since 2004. She was awarded a PhD in Economics of Financial Intermediation from the University of Udine.
 
Her main research interests are focused on corporate finance, with particular reference to the more innovative funding instruments, on the citizens’ engagement in the funding process and on the financial crowdfunding and the analysis of the business models of the online crowdfunding platforms.

Alternative ways of financing and the citizens’ engagement: an analysis of the business models
The objective of the research group is to analyse the alternative ways of financing and mechanisms for the community’s engagement and to investigate the possible development of the business model of the organizations involved.
A multidisciplinary approach for understanding the potential of crowdfunding in Italy
The research project aims to explore, through a qualitative approach, certain elements, both economic and non, in order to identify the potential and the critical aspects of crowdfunding, with particular reference to the development of this alternative fundraising mechanism in Italy.

The financial-based crowdfunding model: analysis of the supply-side market and of the platforms’ business and operational model. Analysis of the significant factors that make an equity crowdfunding round successful (panel analysis). Qualitative analysis of the degree of knowledge about these new tools that the potential users have and of the factors behind the decision of an entrepreneur to turn to these new and alternative financing instruments to raise money for a business idea.
