Short description of contents:
The goal of this research was to conduct an in-depth investigation to provide a better understanding of how middlemen deal with drivers of customer value. Results from a survey of middlemen revealed those value creating drivers as perceived by the middlemen, their relative importance, and their interdependency. Managerial and theoretical implications are provided as well as areas for future research.
Note:
The 20th EurOMA conference returns to Dublin from June 09-12 2013 after a break of 15 years. Much has changed in our world since then. As the economies in Europe and beyond face into recovery from the current financial crisis, growth and development requires new and innovative approaches to customer service, productivity and improvement. Here, there are many choices available to manufacturing and service firms and to their managers. Correspondingly, there are new and innovative ways in which operations management researchers can inquire into and intervene in these choices. So, our conference theme is Operations Management: At the Heart of Recovery. Our main motivation is to reinforce the message that operations management has a central role to play in the recovery of our linked economies and society. EurOMA is a European-based network with rapidly growing international links, whereby members can share their ideas, knowledge, and experience. It is a communication network that bridges the gap between research and practice. Together with its American counterpart POMS (Production and Operations Management Society) and JOMSA (Japanese Operations Management and Strategy Association) in Asia, EurOMA is working towards extending the arena of OM throughout the world by bringing the professionals in the field closer together. In the spirit of networking, EurOMA maintains reciprocal links to other groups that are actively involved in OM. Equally interested in manufacturing and service aspects of the OM field. Innovative approaches, techniques and concepts, from quality management to operations strategy, are the keys to competitiveness. The EurOMA membership as well as the various related activities reflect this broad range of interest and application in the greater field of OM. A focus for development and application of knowledge. Excellence in manufacturing and service operations must be led by the development of new knowledge. The Association provides such a focus for identifying and disseminating the latest thinking and research as well as for exploring current issues in OM, thereby setting research agendas for the future. The International Annual EurOMA Conference is a major forum for the presentation of new ideas and developments in the field.
