Curriculum

Elena Giaretta is Full Professor of Business Management since 2011. She obtained the Ph.D. in Business Management at the Parthenope University of Naples in 1997. She is a Delegate in the Department of Business Administration for the relationships with Federmanager-Verona and is a Representative of the University of Verona within the CUEIM Supervisory Board (University Consortium of Industrial and Managerial Economics).

Her main research interests are:
  • Innovation management, social innovation and knowledge sharing
  • Entrepreneurial learning, entrepreneurship education and corporate vitality
  • Leadership and managerial ethics
Her publications are mainly based on contributions in journals-conferences and books.
She participated in a Firb (2003) project on SMEs and a Prin (2004) project about the management of local tourism systems.
 
She received the following research awards:
  • Best Paper Award Sponsored by the TQM Journal (2010)
  • Fund for Merit of the Department of Business Administration (2013)
  • Best Paper Award Toulon-Verona Conference (2015)
  • Best Paper Award Toulon-Verona Conference (2016)
  • Selected Paper Sinergie-Sima Conference (2018)
 
As far the Third Mission, she interviewed in 2016 Marisa Golo, CEO of the “Calzedonia Group”, as part of the “Univerò” event. In 2016, he commented on his research on Italian over one hundred years old companies as part of a meeting of “Confindustria Treviso”. In 2018 he participated with his own entrepreneurship presentation at an awards ceremony for start-up projects by high school students organized by the “Giovani Industriali di Verona” association.

SMEs’ competitiveness
The research group intends to investigate the competitive capacity of Italian SMEs, a type of firm that characterize the entrepreneurial structure of the country. SMEs are overall 99% of all enterprises in Italy, contributing to the generation of about 70% of the national value added and absorbing more than 80% of employees in country.
Paths of business innovation
The research group aims to investigate the phenomenon of business innovation in its many manifestations in order to better understand the nature and complexity of the managerial and organizational challenges faced by companies wishing to compete in terms of innovation.
